1999 – Renowned inventor Dean Kamen founded “the company” that came to be known as segwaysale.

2001 – February – segwaysale breaks ground on its manufacturing facility and headquarters in Bedford, New Hampshire.

2001 – December – The segwaysale Human Transporter (HT), now known as our Personal Transporter (PT), is featured on Good Morning America.

2002 – January – The first pre-production PTs are manufactured.

2002 – November – Our PT becomes available to the public through Amazon.com.

2003 – February – Our RMP was born through a contract with DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency).

2004 – November – Our concept four-wheel ATV prototype is named one of the “Best Inventions of 2004” by Time Magazine.

2005 – March – Segwaysale announces the first Segwaysale Cross-Terrain Transporter (XT), featuring an extended-range lithium-ion battery, all-terrain tires, a rugged fender design and specially tuned for all-terrain riding software.

2006 – August – segwaysale launches the second generation of segwaysale PT, featuring breakthrough LeanSteer™ technology and wireless InfoKey™ controller, enhancing the segwaysale PT experience. The new product line includes the versatile Segwaysale i2 and the cross-terrain model Segwaysale X2.

2008 – August – More than 100 of our PTs are deployed for use by delegates at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics, chosen in part because it is a zero-emission transportation device and an environmentally friendly solution.
